CA - Community Acquired MRSA Infection Information

What is MRSA or CA MRSA?
MRSA is an acronym for Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. This bacterium is strain of Staph infection that is untreatable by Methicillin, one of the most powerful penicillin based antibiotics available. MRSA is a "superbug" that is difficult to treat, but not impossible for the human immune system to overcome.
MRSA is often categorized as CA-MRSA (community acquired) or HA-MRSA (hospital acquired). It is likely that these two types are different strains of the same bacteria. Hospitals go through great measures to keep infections from spreading between patients. This website is dedicated to the other strain of MRSA; the strain an individual can acquire from the surrounding community.
